Crater and interior lagoons of Rano Kau volcano. There is a special microclimate inside this crater of nearly 1,6 kilometers of diameter that makes it the best place in the island for growing vegetation. Old islanders knew this, so they made their plantations in small terraces in the interior slopes of the volcano.
