France stamp issued as part of Unesco set of 1998. This is a maxicard of France Unesco stamp about Easter Island, the card shows a Moai with its red stone hat and coral eyes. It is said that Moais "woke up" when they received the white coral eyes after being located in their places in the Ahus. The statue in this card could be Moai Ko Te Riku of Ahu Tahai.

The stamp apparently shows Ahu Akivi. Although it is not near the sea, the Moais of Ahu Akivi are oriented to the West, looking to Polynesia. According to tradition these seven Moais represent the explorers that Hotu Matua sent to find the island where he wanted to move his people. The island, that had been seen in a dream by a man of Hotu Matua clan, was called Te Pito O Te Henua (Navel of the Earth).
